Director of Finance & Operations

Job Description

The Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for increasing the profitability and values of the company by leading finance and business operations. Their duties include consulting with senior leadership to determine business goals or initiatives and reviewing operational data to make suggestions to ensure the company's success.

General

●Support the Tri-County Electric commitment of providing the best electrical services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers while always remaining professional
●Comply with Tri-County Electric's procedures, policies, and regulations relevant to your role
●Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary as required for your role to ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas.
●Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or as directed by the president

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

●Develop efficiencies to manage the overall day to day operations and finance of all aspects of the company
●Leading office personnel and operations of the company
●Oversee & review budgeting for multiple projects, including monitoring and controlling costs
●Work closely with Human Resources to implement and refine company policies and procedures
●Guiding, directing and evaluating the work of management and executive team members
●Creating and implementing a strategic plan
●Leveraging company output to improve ranking in the competitive field
●Tackling unforeseen issues and troubleshooting
●Representing the company for external and internal events
●Monitoring the competitive landscape and attending industry events to stay abreast of new initiatives and ways to stay ahead
●Identifying, training and developing key employees within the company and setting them on a path for success

Key Responsibilities

•Review operations procedures and processes, suggest changes to increase efficiencies
•Implement inventory management, reporting and job costing process
•Cash Flow and accounts receivable management, including liaison with bank relationships
•Importing, coding and monthly reconciliations related to bank and credit card activity
•Accounts payable related to large supplier bills, credit cards and other payables as needed.
•Review all project related costs are coded to projects
•Compliance with and Monthly Sales Tax preparation for CT and NYS
•Insurance liaison, including business insurance, employee medical, dental & vision, renewals review, plan costs, ongoing employee enrollments and payroll deductions
•Manage 401k Safe Harbor, including employee enrollment, payroll deductions and contributions
•Weekly QuickBooks Payroll preparation and payroll tax payments and quarterly filings
•Review and monitor all customer estimates and invoices to ensure correct compliance with CT & NYS sales tax requirements
•Prepare and review with senior management monthly job profitability reports, identifying key variances
•Maintain Chart of Accounts including monthly general ledger review
•Month end closing including, adjusting journal entries, financial reports preparation, review with senior management.
•Liaison with outside CPA to prepare tax returns
•Annual preparation of CT Declaration of Personal Property Tax
•Review and process any official requests received from governmental agencies on behalf of the company or employees

Education and Qualifications

●College degree in Accounting, Finance or MBA
●Understanding and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Skills and Abilities

●Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function
●Proven experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, QuickBooks Online, strong aptitude to learn other software including but not limited to Builder Trend, Adobe, Constant Contact
